Body Art Bike Ride to Raise Funds for Children's Cancer Institute
Northern Beaches artist Jelena Mrkich is getting ready to transform bike riders into human works of art.
On Sunday February 11 the Sydney Body Art Ride is on again. This annual event helps bring public art to the community while raising funds for Children's Cancer Institute Australia. Jelena will join a team of professional make-up artists and body painters in applying their talents to the "Human Rainbow", an art project giving participating riders the opportunity to become a living canvas.
Body art is a slight change of canvas for Jelena, who currently creates digital art, using the mouse and keyboard as her brushes. Inspired by the Human Rainbow art project, Jelena has created a digital art piece, Uplifting Heart.
"When we help and encourage others, it fuels our own hearts in return. This piece is dedicated to that very spirit of connection, and the amazing things that can happen when we nurture this."
Uplift your heart and support children's cancer research by joining the Sydney Body Art Ride as a rider, painted rainbow rider or volunteer. Ride starts at the University of New South Wales and ends at South Maroubra Beach. Register online at www.sydneybodyartride.org. You can also purchase a print of "Uplifting Heart" - special edition prints are available exclusively from
www.jelenamrkich.com with 10% of all profits donated to Children's Cancer Institute Australia.
